Library and Learning Resource Center. The new project is the symbolic and physical heart of Solano Community College’s main campus in Fairfield. It will strengthen the campus community by attracting and supporting students with valuable services that enhance their educational experience. The services include a research center, tutoring center, group study spaces, and more. The building design responds to a shift at many college campuses to put active and collaborative learning at the forefront. The groundbreaking occurred on November 6, 2019, and the expected opening is scheduled for the March 2022.
Two Story, 59,000 square feet. The building will be located in the center of the campus as shown on the map below. It will contain traditional library print resources, computer commons and digital resources, ten group study rooms, large quiet study areas, seven tutoring study rooms, an audio visual arts/television studio, the data center for the College, faculty and staff offices, training center, and service areas, and support spaces.
Old Library Removed. As construction began, five old portable classrooms on the north side of the campus were removed. Following completion of the new building, the old Library was also removed and replaced with a landscaped area. Below are site plans showing the future area north and south of the new building.
Leave a Legacy – Name A Space in the Library! Making a donation to the Facility Naming Program is a meaningful way to leave a legacy and honor an important person in your life, your family, or organization. Naming rights to a space in the new Library and Resource Learning Center start at just $500 for a study desk, $2,500 for a small study room, to more for the TV studio and Academic Success and Tutoring Center (ASTC).
