Please join us to celebrate the outstanding career of Celia Esposito-Noy, Ed.D.  Celia has served as Superintendent/President of the Solano Community College District since January 2016 and will retire in June 2024.

Celia’s Retirement Reception on Thursday, May 16th will serve as a scholarship fundraiser for students in financial need. Specifically, the funds will be used for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society student membership fees, and scholarships for Documented Dreamer students.  Proceeds from the event will be directed to a restricted account for this purpose at the Solano Community College Educational Foundation.

Celia is in her eighth year as Superintendent/President of the Solano Community College District ending a 30-year career in higher education. During her tenure at SCC, the District has added over 130,000 square feet of new or remodeled building space at the main campus in Fairfield and the two centers in Vacaville and Vallejo. In fall 2024, the new Quad will open on the Fairfield campus.

During her tenure, the District has improved its financial standing, refinanced the Bond to save tax payers $20 million over the life of the Bond, and added a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomanufacturing. Student enrollment has increased from 6,200 students to 8,900 and more managers, faculty, and staff have been hired to meet the demands of increased enrollment.

Celia has been recognized twice by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She received the Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction in 2023 and the Michael Bennet Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024.

“My success has been dependent on others. We have an outstanding team and Governing Board that have done exceptional work to make SCC a desirable place to attend and work. Our success is due to the collaboration, trust, and respect for each other, our students, and the community. I will be forever grateful that I was able to be part of this outstanding institution.”

Celia will retire June 30, 2024 and will remain in the area. She plans to be more involved in the Fairfield Pro Challenger Tennis event that the College has hosted since 2016 and support SCC in other ways.

Please consider becoming a part of this important scholarship fundraiser as we celebrate Celia. Supporting a scholarship is a meaningful way to support students in financial need.  These students need assistance for the things many of us take for granted, such as books, transportation, and personal computers. A scholarship awards students that are taking the initiative to improve their future and working hard to achieve academic success.

Donations in any amount are welcome. You may add to Celia’s new scholarship, or create a new scholarship named after you, a company, or a person you’d like to honor. The amount to establish a scholarship varies from just $250 for a one-time scholarship to $10,000 for an endowed (perpetual) scholarship. Donors have the option of creating scholarships with customized student selection criteria, such as an area of study/major, eligibility criteria such as GPA or minimum units per semester, and financial need and/or academic success.
