Our Passion – Helping Students Achieve Their College Dreams:
At the SCC Educational Foundation, we’re passionate about supporting our students most in need. Helping to provide access to higher education for local students can truly make an impact. Most students at Solano Community College receive some form of financial aid. But most need additional assistance for the things many of us take for granted, such as transportation, personal computers, and paper and ink for printing college assignments. Despite these obstacles, these students taking the initiative and working hard to improve their future. Funding a scholarship is a meaningful way to provide a helping hand up and make a lasting impact, but we need your help!

The SCC Educational Foundation established a permanent scholarship endowment in 2018 and approximately $120,000 has been raised to date. The goal is to continue to grow the endowment each year so a permanent source of funding is provided to assist students.

Leave a Legacy – Honor an Important Person in Your Life While Helping a Student

For those considering larger investments, consider creating a new scholarship named after you, a company, or a person you’d like to honor. The amount to establish a scholarship varies from just $250 for a one time scholarship to $10,000 for an endowed (perpetual) scholarship. Donors have the option of creating scholarships with customized student selection criteria. For example, a donor may select an area of study/major, eligibility criteria such as GPA or minimum units per semester, and financial need and/or academic success.  Two recent examples are the Valero Benicia Refinery Endowed Scholarship for Liberty High Students (pictured below), and the Stephanie L. Brennan Endowed Scholarship for single mothers attending SCC (pictured above).

Why Scholarships Help Transform Lives:

  • Small scholarships make a huge difference to students struggling financially. These students need help with books, transportation, and other college expenses.
  • It’s critical for students to stay enrolled, because the likelihood of unemployment increases significantly without a College Degree or Certificate.
  • Students who earn a degree or certificate from a California Community College nearly double their earnings within three years.
