Join the celebration!  On Saturday, September 9, 2017, The SCC Educational Foundation is hosting the SCC 2017 Opening Night Gala.

As the name implies, this year our annual gala will commemorate the grand re-opening of the 450 seat Solano Community College Performing Arts Center on the main campus in Fairfield.  The theme for the evening is “Back To The Future.”  SCC has a rich history of performing arts and the College is working to build a future as bright as the past.  Bands such as Sly and Family Stone and Con Funk Shun established their roots at Solano College.  SCC was home to an award winning theater production program for decades under the direction of Dave Leonard and George Maguire.  Check out these photos on past SCT productions.

The College is rebuilding a robust performing arts program.  The Theater Arts Program includes studies in rehearsal and performance, acting and drama, script analysis, make-up, set and prop design, lighting and sound, stage management, and costume design.  The Music Program includes a variety of instrumental and vocal studies, and Professors Kristy Juliano manages the SCC Choral Society, and Teri Yumae manages the Symphony Orchestra of Northern California.

Another important feature of the gala is the recognition of the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients and Alumni of the Year recipient.  In addition, major donors to the building naming rights programs will be recognized.

Gala Program Information. To create a fun event with a focus on performing arts, the Gala begins with time for a building tour, cocktails and heavy Hor d’oeuvres.  The program in the main auditorium will begin at 7:30 p.m.  Funds raised at the Gala will support the SCC Theatre Arts and Music programs, and the SCC Educational Foundation in its efforts to establish an active Alumni Association for Solano Community College. About the Renovation.  A modern facility that the College and local community can embrace will help propel performing arts programs into the future.  The reconstruction project involved a full modernization and expansion of the building to include reconfigured auditorium seating into two levels, a 2,800 sq. ft. expansion of assembly space in a new lobby, a 900 sq. ft. rest room expansion, and exterior facade modernizations including a new main building entry.
