My time at Solano Community College played a big role in helping me find my direction. I started as a Business Administration major without a clear long-term plan, but Solano Community College gave me the space and support to explore my interests and build a strong foundation.

Living in Vacaville, I split my time between the Vacaville and Fairfield campuses, which made it easier to stay on track while balancing school and work. I took courses like accounting, economics, and government. These classes strengthened my academic skills and sparked my interest in public service.

After transferring to Sacramento State University, I majored in Political Science and had the opportunity to intern in the State Assembly. Along the way, I also took management courses that deepened my understanding of leadership, communication, and team dynamics; skills that would soon become central to my career. That experience solidified my desire to pursue a path in public service and make a meaningful impact in my community.

While in school, I worked in food service, and after graduating during the COVID-19 pandemic, I transitioned into grocery retail, eventually stepping into a management role. In that position, I was able to apply what I learned in my management coursework. Leading teams, navigating challenges, and making decisions under pressure during an especially uncertain time. It reinforced the importance of adaptability and showing up for both employees and the community.

Today, I serve as a Field Representative for Congressman Mike Thompson, where I work directly with constituents and local organizations across Solano County. In my role, I handle casework related to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and Social Security. I’ve had the privilege of helping veterans and servicemembers navigate complex VA and DOD systems, as well as assisting community members in resolving Social Security issues. This work allows me to make a direct and meaningful impact on people’s lives.

Looking back, SCC was where I began to truly find my path, and it laid the groundwork for everything that followed. I’m grateful for that experience and proud to be an SCC alum. SCC didn’t just prepare me academically; it gave me the confidence to pursue a path where I can serve and make a difference.
