2019 Business Partnership Program
August 22, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
For the past six years, the SCC Educational Foundation enhanced B2B activity in Solano County by organizing Joint Chamber of Commerce mixers. These mixers have grown to become some of the largest networking events in Solano County. With the establishment of the SCC Alumni Association in 2018, new resources are now available to connect businesses with Solano Community College, alumni and current students.
So for 2019, we introduced the Business Partnership Program. This program retains the largest Joint Chamber Mixer from 2018, and adds programs that align the needs of businesses, SCC alumni and current students. We’ll do this by connecting our business and alumni network with community resources related to employee recruitment and job placement.
The new “Hire A Grad” program will link companies with alumni with the skills and training employers are looking for. The Alumni Association has developed a database of approximately 70,000 alumni, plus there are over 13,000 students currently enrolled at SCC. The Business Partnership Program will provide employers exposure to the SCC Alumni network and current students looking for jobs, internships and mentoring opportunities. We’ll work with the College Career Center, the Solano Workforce Development Board (SWDB), and social media to ensure job postings are connected to alumni and students. In April 2019, we worked with the SWDB to promote the 2019 NorCal Career Fair at Solano Community College. 85 employers and approximately 450 job seekers attended the job fair.
Our final 2019 Chamber of Commerce Mixer is:
- On August 22nd, the Vallejo Chambers Alliance will hold its annual mixer at the SCC Vallejo Center in association with AT&T. Marketing tables are available for $45 per event.
Prior mixers this year included:
- On July 18th, we hosted four Chambers (Benicia, Vallejo, American Canyon, and Fairfield-Suisun) in association with Travis Credit Union and the Solano SBDC at the SCC Vallejo Auto Tech Center.
- On June 13th we hosted the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber in association with NorthBay Heathcare at the new SCC Science Building in Fairfield.
- In February 2019 we hosted the Vacaville Chamber in association with the three Vacaville Rotary Clubs at the SCC Biotech Center.
Total attendance at all mixers at SCC locations in 2019 is expected to be about 700. These events feature great food from some of the best restaurants and catering companies in our area, micro brews on tap from local microbreweries, and varietal wines from Suisun Valley, Solano County, and Winters. But more importantly, they are fantastic networking opportunities and a cost effective marketing format for businesses seeking exposure throughout Solano County.
Sponsors get the added benefits of exposure from flyers, banners, emails and social media posts, as well as marketing tables at the mixers. Our sponsors will also be promoted in our marketing to eleven Chambers of Commerce, as well as our extensive contact list and Alumni network. And remember, the SCC Educational Foundation is a non-profit, so sponsors get the satisfaction of helping us carry out our mission to support Solano Community College and the students most in need.
